Honors Research Foundations

8-Week Live Online Course

Our Honors Research Foundations course guides 9th and 10th grade students through the essential steps of writing a research paper. They’ll learn how to choose a topic, conduct research, evaluate and cite sources, and avoid plagiarism. The course is structured to cover a research topic within a eight-week period.

And because Honors Research Foundations is a UC-approved honors course offered by WASC-accredited Elite Open School, you will earn one-semester credit, a weighted grade, and an impressive elective to add to your transcript!


Program Details

Through engaging lectures, personalized guidance, and hands-on practice, students will:

  • Learn how to develop a research question

  • Discover how to find sources for a topic

  • Find out how to critically evaluate and cite sources

  • Have a one-on-one consultation with course instructor Dr. Hong

  • Write a 3-5 page research paper that incorporates at least 5 sources

  • Develop and deliver a 5-minute presentation

  • Receive an official grade at the end of the course
