During the SAT

  1. Answer all the easy questions first and then the hard ones. (Except for reading passages, questions appear roughly in increasing order of difficulty for each block of questions.)
  2. Eliminate as many wrongs answer choices as possible and improve your chances of guessing correctly
  3. Don't get bogged down on any one question. Pace yourself. Practice tests are an excellent way to improve your pacing.
  4. It's OK to write in your test booklet. Mark questions you are uncertain about so you can come back for a second look; circle ones you have skipped.
  5. Don't leave stray marks on the answer sheet. The scoring machine will see two marks and count it as a wrong answer.
  6. Check frequently that you are bubbling in the right spots on your answer sheet. (It's easy to get off by a question.)
  7. Relax and remember that you don't have to answer every question to do well.
