Another perfect score: Jennifer Sun
Congratulations to Jennifer Sun of Polytechnic High School, Elite's latest student to earn a perfect score on the SAT. Jennifer scored a 2400 on the March 2007 test.
Who gets what essay prompt?
If you look inside the question-and-answer-service booklets for released tests, or on the College Board website, you will usually find four different essay prompts for each test (three for the March/April administration).
Although the College Board itself is rather vague about who gets what test, enough clues exist to figure out how the essay topics are distributed.
SAT Scores Canceled in South Korea
You've all probably heard about the security breach that occurred on the January test in South Korea. One or more hagwons managed to purloin a copy of the December 2005 test, which they shared with their students immediately before the January 2006 test. And that test reused the December 2005 material.
Now, the other shoe has dropped.
Another perfect score
Congratulations to Benjamin Dong, who became Elite's latest perfect-score student by earning a 2400 on the October 2006 SAT.
College Board Stats on the New SAT
The College Board has released information about the first cohort of students to take the new SAT.
Some highlights:
- The addition of the writing test makes a perfect score significantly harder to get. Only 238 students got perfect 2400s in 2005. That's down from about 1000 perfect scores for 2004. That makes our 2400s all the more impressive.
- Less than 1% of students receive a 12 on the essay. (That's one reason we see so few 2400's)
Course Title Inflation
Here's an interesting article from the Washington Post about the inflation of course titles, i.e., labelling courses as "honors", etc. when they're really not.
Another Perfect Score
Congratulations to Victor Vuoung from St. Francis High, Elite's latest perfect-score student. He received a 2400 on the May. 2006 SAT.
