Elite Announces the Closing of Elite Thailand project

In March 2010, Elite Educational Institute phased out its educational project in Bangkok, Thailand. During its three years of operation, Elite's Thailand project has served its primary goals of preparing local students for standardized tests required for admissions to colleges in the United States while contributing to local community development and empowerment efforts in Thailand by donating the proceeds of Elite's Thailand project to the Sustainable Development Research Foundation (SDRF), a non-governmental organization in Thailand. As demonstrated through its involvement in and support of efforts to empower local communities initially in Thailand and now in Turkey, Elite Educational Institute is a company dedicated to the principle of "empowerment through education."

Lincoln Heights Project Article in The Korean Daily

Lincoln Heights ProjectLincoln Heights ProjectIn exemplary fashion, a Korean Tutoring Center and a Korean Church work hand-in-hand to provide free educational services to students from lower socioeconomic households.

The Lincoln Heights Project, which was launched in February of 2009 as a joint effort between Elite Educational Institute and Young Nak Presbyterian Church's Education Department, just wrapped up its first stage of services. Many underprivileged students from Los Angeles' Lincoln Heights area were given free SAT preparation, education and college entrance counseling, all the while being imbued with the dream of a college education.

According to Karen Hwang, a Director with Elite Educational Institute, the project was started after learning about the utter lack of resources for college entrance preparation faced by most students in the Lincoln Heights area.

Happy Holidays from Elite of L.A

In the spirit of the season, the staff and instructors of Elite of Los Angeles headed to the Downtown Women's Center on December 16th, where they prepared a home cooked lunch for nearly 100 women.
"On a corporate level, Elite is dedicated to using its resources to help others, and the staff of Elite of L.A wanted to carry on that notion by doing something on a very personal level," said one administrative assistant.
We wish you a happy holiday season and a successful new year.

Elite Student with Perfect SAT Score profiled in OC Register

Photo Courtesy : OC RegisterPhoto Courtesy : OC RegisterIRVINE – At first, Hope Xu thought her SAT score was a mistake.

Maybe the exam administrators hadn't applied the curve yet. Maybe she wasn't reading her score report correctly. Maybe her less-than-perfect raw score on the essay portion of the SAT – 9 out of 12 – hadn't been factored into her curved, final score.

"The computer screen said, '800, 800, 800.' I said, 'Where's my score? It's out of 800,'" said Xu, 16, a junior at Irvine's University High School. "I probably sat there for about 40 seconds, and then I said, 'Wake up.' In my head, I was thinking, what should I do? Should I get up and dance? Should I cry? Usually, when stressful moments come up, I don't react."

Elite Perfect Again in Orange County

Photo Courtesy : Stephanie ChengPhoto Courtesy : Stephanie ChengStephanie Cheng set her alarm clock for 2 a.m. She had just gone to bed at midnight after finishing her Advanced Placement language homework, but sleep could wait – she had to check her SAT score.

The alarm went off. The Dana Hills High School junior went to wake up her parents. But they told her to go back to bed because they didn't want to wake up her 10-year-old brother that early. The plan was that the whole family would gather around the computer when she checked her scores. They would be her good-luck charm.

So the 16-year-old had to try to fall back asleep. She awoke at 5 a.m.

"Please, please, please can we look now?" she begged her parents.

They said OK, so the family of four gathered around her computer screen. There it was: 800, 800, 800, a perfect score.

Ten Achieve SAT Perfection!

Elite Educational Institute is proud to announce our students' results from the October 2009 administration of the SAT. Among the 1880 Elite students in California who took the October test, 10 achieved a perfect score of 2400!

Nationwide, fewer than 1 in 5100 college-bound seniors in the class of 2009 received perfect scores.[1] By comparison, 1 in 188 Elite students achieved perfect scores on a single test. That's over 27 times better than the national average.

As a responsible test-preparation company, Elite does not guarantee scores for our students or promise a particular level of score improvement. However, the results clearly show that Elite's comprehensive method of test preparation, emphasizing fundamental skills over test-taking tips, consistently helps our students achieve their potential.

Important Changes to UC Admission Policy (effective Fall 2012)

Recently, the University of California made some important and significant changes to its admissions policy, changes which will affect high school students in the graduating class of 2012 (students who are sophomores during this academic year, 2009-10) and younger.

The new admissions policy makes changes to three key areas:
(1) "a-g" course completion deadline
(2) the SAT Subject Test requirement
(3) how a student becomes "eligible" to attend the University of California.
